The Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva opens an enrollment for an ordinary professor or associate in neutrino physics.

 

The Department of Nuclear and Corpuscular Physics of the Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva offers a dynamic scientific environment with leading researchers in particle physics, astroparticles and neutrinos. The department is very active in several international research projects and has strong links with CERN since its creation.

 

This is a full-time position with a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree in physics, as well as a master's degree and doctoral thesis.

 

The candidate will be called upon to develop leading international research in his field of specialization and to obtain external funding. He / she will also have to assume the management and organizational tasks at the department, section and faculty level.

 

We are looking for a candidate with a proven international scientific reputation, with a wide range of skills and knowledge, including a very good understanding of neutrino physics, data analysis and interpretation, solid Experience of neutrino detectors and their functioning, ability to coordinate an important research group, pedagogical aptitude, creativity and enthusiasm necessary for the management of students during their doctoral or master - ability to initiate communication programs and popularization for the University's outreach.

 

Title and required skills


Doctorate in Physics or title deemed equivalent.

 

Wide experience of research direction and teaching.

 

Publications in leading international journals.

INSTITUTE : The Department of Nuclear and Particle Physics of the Faculty of the University of Geneva offers a dynamic scientific environment with world-renown academics in the domain of particle, astroparticle and neutrino physics. The Department is actively involved in several major international experiments and has a strong link with CERN since its foundation.


ASSIGNMENT : This full-time appointment includes teaching physics at bachelor, master and postgraduate level as well as supervising master and doctoral theses.


The candidate will be able to develop his / her own research in the field. He / she will also take on organizational and administrative duties at department, section and faculty level.


We are seeking a candidate with an international reputation, with a wide range of skills and knowledge, including a very good understanding of the neutrino physics of neutrinos and neutrino detectors and their functioning, The ability to coordinate an important research group, the pedagogical aptitude, creativity and enthusiasm necessary for the management of students during their doctoral or master studies, and the ability to initiate communication and outreach programs for the University.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :


PhD in physics or equivalent.


Strong track record in research and experience in the management of research groups and in teaching.


Publications in high-ranked international journals.
