At the Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry and Food Chemistry the position of
Chair (W3) of Bioinorganic and Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry
in combination with the

Director of the Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research
of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf e.V. (HZDR)

is to be filled in a joint appointment procedure during the year of 2018.

The HZDR is a research centre with over 1100 employees and a member of the Helmholtz
Association of German Research Centres (HGF). The HZDR’s interdisciplinary scientific focus
lies in the research fields of energy, health, and matter. Research is carried out in close cooperation
within the Helmholtz Association as well as with universities, non-university institutions,

We are seeking a director for the Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research, which
employs approximately one hundred members of staff. This experienced individual should
possess an outstanding international research reputation with a proven track record in radiopharmaceutical
sciences. This position requires competence and experience in the areas of
radiochemistry, medical chemistry, organic chemistry, and complex chemistry as well as
knowledge of clinical and pre-clinical imaging principles. A lively interest in issues pertaining
to oncological therapy at the interface between chemistry, pharmacy, and medicine as well
as an intensive cooperation within the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT)with the
aim of translating results from basic research into clinical practice are also expected. Furthermore,
thematic cooperation is required with the chairs of the Department of Chemistry
and Food Chemistry on the one hand and the HZDR Institutes of Radiooncology-OncoRay,
Radiation Physics, and Resource Ecology on the other hand.

The applicant should show a strong commitment to teaching in chemistry and food chemistry
and academic selfadministration. He/she must fulfil the employment qualification requirements
according to § 58 of the Act Governing Academic Freedom in Higher Education
in the Free State of Saxony (Saxon Academic Freedom in Higher Education Act - SächsHSFG).
Besides an university degree in one of the aforementioned areas, teaching abilities
and particular competence in working scientifically as well as experience in cooperative
transdisciplinary structures, additional scientific merits are expected, such as a junior professorship,
a habilitation degree, or an equivalent scientific activity.
