At the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the position as professor for »Theory of Quantum Matter and Nanophysics« is to be filled at the earliest opportunity; Grade W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor with Tenure Track Option on W3 or W3 Associate / Full Professor.

 

Scientific environment

 

The professorship is assigned to the Faculty of Physics. The faculty is integrated into the research campus Garching in an excellent scientific environment, which is particularly characterized by its proximity to the Walter Schottky Institute, the Walther Meißner Institute and the research neutron source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz.

 

tasks

 

The tasks of a TUM professor include research and teaching as well as support and promotion of young scientists. We are looking for an expert in the field of condensed matter physics with a focus on the theory of quantum matter and quantum technology. One of the tasks in teaching is participation in the bachelor and master programs of the TUM.

 

qualifications

 

We would like to recruit a scientist who, after completing a university degree, has an above-average doctoral degree or comparable academic qualification, outstanding achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment according to the appropriate career level. International scientific experience during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase is expected. Applicants will also have special pedagogical aptitude and ability to teach in English.

 

Successful applicants are expected to cooperate with the theoretically and experimentally working groups in the Faculty of Physics and to participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations at Campus Garching and in the Greater Munich area. In addition, a proven aptitude in the acquisition and - depending on the scientific career stage - in the direction of competitive research projects expected.
