The Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Department of Applied Nuclear Physics, announces a 1 year research service with access 2018-04-01 or by agreement. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is Uppsala University's second largest institution, with over 350 employees, divided into 11 departments. You will develop and implement methods from the machine learning area in algorithms for core data evaluation. The work will include the use of nuclear-physical codes, e.g. TALYS, and management of experimental databases. The goal is a large-scale improvement of existing core data libraries with great relevance for the operation of nuclear facilities. Supervision of doctoral projects and teaching can be included in the duties. We have an intensive collaboration with international researchers in Europe and the United States and work can sometimes be transferred to another location.

 

Qualification requirements : Doctoral degree in relevant field. Well-documented qualifications in core development, programming and statistics.

 

Desirable and / or merit in general: Experience from machine learning, eg Gaussian Processes, is highly meritorious.
