A full-time Research Associate position (funded for 6 months) is available for a protein scientist - structural biologist, protein NMR spectroscopist, molecular biologist or protein biophysicist - to study the interactions of herpesviral proteins with cellular host proteins. Experience working with proteins (such as protein expression and purification, or protein characterization using biophysical and/or structural techniques, or kinase assays) is essential.

You will join an interdisciplinary international (UK-USA) team funded by the NIH (NIAID). You will be responsible for the part of the project carried out in Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB, http://www.mib.ac.uk/), which is equipped with the state-of-the-art 800MHz, 600MHz, 500MHz Bruker spectrometers with cryoprobes, and has excellent facilities for protein expression, production, biophysical and structural characterization.

You will have a PhD or equivalent experience in structural biology, protein science, molecular biology or related disciplines. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and with a multidisciplinary research team, and presenting your work in the form of reports, papers and conference presentations, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
