Academic Associate in Analytical Chemistry

We wish to appoint an Academic Associate to work in the subject areas of Chemistry and Forensic Science. You will provide support teaching in laboratory sessions within our modern and well-equipped facilities, and undertake a range of other academic duties including seminar and tutorial group supervision. You will also be required to register for a part time PhD for the duration of the 5-year contract, and will engage in research in the area of analytical science. Candidates will need to show they have a demonstrable interest in, and knowledge of, analytical chemistry, the mathematics underpinning it, and its associated techniques.

The part time PhD research will be in the area of analytical chemistry and will require a strong understanding of the mathematical and instrumental foundation on which the field rests.

The Department of Chemistry and Forensics is based in the School of Science and Technology at NTU. The School is one of the most innovative in the UK with state of the art facilities. We pride ourselves on our strong multi-disciplinary ethos and deliver excellent taught courses at undergraduate, MSc and MRes level. Our research attracts substantial external funding to underpin our research programmes. We engage in cutting edge research- staff in Chemistry and Forensic team participated in REF2014 as part of UoA3 and UoA15 with both submissions being highly rated. We have a team of 25 academic staff and over 500 students on our courses.

Having excellent communication and presentation skills, the successful applicant must demonstrate commitment to teaching across our chemistry and forensics science courses which are offered at FdSc, BSc, MChem, and Masters levels.
