The Geoscience Center (Stable Isotope Group) at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is seeking to fill a

PhD position in Stable Isotope Geochemistry

The 3-years project is funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG). The salary is TV-L E13 (75%).

You will work in an active group on modern aspects of stable isotope geochemistry. You will have access to modern analytical facilities of the Geoscience Center, which includes a well-equipped stable isotope laboratory.

Most measurements will be conducted with a recently acquired, new high-resolution gas source mass spectrometer (Thermo "253 Ultra"). Your will study and publish on the stable isotope fractionation between carbonate and water in natural and laboratory systems. Carbonate crystallization experiments will be conducted in close collaboration with the Prof. Dr. Daniel Jackson.

Your Profile

• You hold a highly-qualified University degree (Master/Diplom or equal) with strong background in Geochemistry
• You are highly motivated with keen interest in basic research
• You have documented experience in laboratory work, data reduction, and scientific writing
• You have excellent English communication skills (oral, written)
