Lancaster University is seeking a highly motivated researcher to work on a project of developing III-V quantum dot mid-wavelength infrared lasers. The project is funded by the Innovate UK in collaboration with Cascade Technologies. The project aims to develop an advanced antimonide quantum structures to demonstrate room temperature lasers operating in mid-wavelength infrared spectral range. The project requires expertise in the growth of III-V semiconductor quantum dots by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), laser device processing and characterisation.


You should hold, or shortly expectto obtain, a PhD in Physics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.Experience is required in MBE growth, semiconductor characterisation and devicefabrication in a cleanroom environment.


You will be fully integrated into the Quantum Technology Centre (QTC) at Lancaster University where you will conduct MBE growth, device fabrication and optical spectroscopies. You will conduct research both independently and in collaboration with other members in the centre. The project is initially funded for 10 months with possible extension subject to the further funding.
