Doctoral Candidate in Nano- and Microtechnology


ERC Consolidator grant is funding a doctoral candidate position in the field of nano- and microtechnology at Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland (Prof. Robin Ras, ).


The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • conduct research on superhydrophobic surfaces, their fabrication by chemical synthesis and microfabrication, their in-depth characterization, and their application in technologies

  • publish research outcomes in high-impact peer-reviewed journals

  • work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment


The position is immediately available. Salary is based on the university salary scheme.

As a successful applicant, you should be creative and highly motivated in experimental science and have a background in physics, chemistry, materials science or a closely related field. Prior expertise in surface modification, microfabrication, electron microscopy and/or modelling of soft matter systems is highly appreciated.
