Research Fellow in Physics National University of Singapore, Faculty of Science (FoS) Singapore

Research Fellow - 006YT

We are seeking highly motivated researchers to carry out interdisciplinary research on thermoelectric and spin caloric properties of magnetic oxides and alloys. The position is available from Nov 2017. The position is initially for 1 year and renewal up to 3 years is possible depending on the performance of the candidate and availability of funding. This project involves synthesis of selected magnetic materials (oxides and metallic alloys) in bulk as well as in thin film form by pulsed laser deposition technique. Our goal is to explore spin-dependent thermal transport (magnetothermopower, Spin Seebeck, Spin Nernst and Ettingshausen effects) and spin-dependent electrical transport. The project involves setting up new experimental facilities and making use of these facilities to measure the required properties.

  1. A PhD degree from a recognized university/institute.
  2. While previous experience with thermoelectric transport is highly preferable, candidates who have good physics back ground with multiple physical characterization techniques (resistivity, magnetization, Hall effect, thermopower, etc.) can be considered.
  3. The candidate should be self motivated and have publications in reputed journals.
  4. Candidates from Singapore higher educational institutions will be given priority.
