The Faculty of Science invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track or tenured position in Experimental Physics at the Assistant Professor level. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2018 or at a mutually agreeable time, but not later than August 2018.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an active and innovative research program in nanotechnology. Especially encouraged to apply are candidates whose research lies at the intersection of nanotechnology and soft-matter and incorporates aspects of biophysics, nanofabrication and functionalization, and nanoscale analysis and visualization. UOIT offers a unique and interdisciplinary graduate training environment in Physics. Graduate studies include those offered through MSc and PhD programs in Applied Bioscience, Materials Science, and Modelling and Computational Science, and the successful candidate will have a research focus that aligns with one or more of these programs. The successful candidate will be expected to play an integral role in the growth, development, and identity of the Physics and related graduate programs. This includes teaching at all levels of the undergraduate Physics program, and a commitment to excellence in teaching is essential.


This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the tenured and tenure track collective agreement.
