Postdoctoral Research Assistant – Plant-Pathogen Interactions

Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 p.a.

The Department of Plant Sciences is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant. This is a 3 year contract funded by the BBSRC. This grant is held by Professor Gail Preston and the work is to be conducted in her lab in the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3RB. The research topic is ‘Effector persistence in plant pathogens’.


The postholder will be required to plan, troubleshoot, and expertly execute the research work involved in this project; to prepare data and contribute to preparation of manuscripts for publication; to present work at scientific meetings; to participate in outreach activities relating to this project; and to assist colleagues and show social responsibility in the laboratory. The postholder should hold a PhD or equivalent (or be close to completion), and have a relevant publication record. They should have experience of: molecular biology; microbial genetics; microbiology; biochemistry and/or microscopy; and data analysis, and show high motivation with intellectual curiosity and rigour. Previous experience of work on microbial physiology or plant-microbe interactions is desirable.
