A four-year PhD position is available at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University of Amsterdam, in the Computational Condensed Matter Theory group of dr P. Corboz, starting in September 2018.

Project description

This PhD position is part of the TENSORSIM ERC project which focuses on the application and further development of tensor network algorithms for the accurate study of 2D and 3D strongly correlated quantum many-body systems, including frustrated spin systems and interacting electron systems. Exceptional candidates with a strong background and interest in quantum many-body systems and computational methods are particularly encouraged to apply. Solid skills in programming, numerical analysis, and condensed matter physics are expected.

  • Master’s degree in Physics;
  • the ability to work independently as well as in a team;
