Research Associate in Perovskite Semiconductors


A position is open for a Research Associate in Organic Semiconductors as part of the Optoelectronics Group at the Department of Physics, University of Cambridge, in the group of Prof. Sir Richard Friend.


The successful candidate will join the world-leading Optoelectronics Group, one of the world's leading academic groups in the field of organic and hybrid electronics. Its research programme is built on a broad scientific approach aiming to understand the electronic properties of solution processable semiconductors in general, but also aiming to understand in-depth the physical processes that govern the performance of organic and hybrid organic-inorganic electronic devices, such as light emitting diodes, photovoltaics, and field effect transistors. This project is focussed on the development of novel architectures for thin film LEDs and solar cells, incorporating perovskite structure materials. Further information can be found at


We are looking for a highly motivated, bright and enthusiastic candidate with a strong background in the chemistry and physics of functional molecular materials. Candidates should have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science or a related area, and an excellent publication record. Direct experience of thin film semiconductor device fabrication, processing and characterisation of organic semiconductors, and measurement, modelling and characterisation of diode devices is required. The ability to work both as part of a team, and independently, coupled with excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills are also required.


The position is available from 2nd July 2018


Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.
