Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Environmental Hydrogeochemistry

 

The University of New Brunswick, Department of Earth Sciences, invites applications for a continuing (tenure-track) position at the Assistant Professor level to commence Jan. 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, subject to final budgetary approval.

 

The Department offers degree programs in Earth Science and Environmental Geochemistry, and a program in Geological Engineering jointly with the Department of Civil Engineering. We seek an outstanding scientist in the field of Environmental Hydrogeochemistry with enthusiasm for teaching topics at the intersection of earth sciences and water resources including geochemistry and hydrogeology/geohydro-logy in the classroom, lab and field. The successful candidate is expected to develop a robust, externally funded research program, to engage undergraduate and graduate students through teaching and research/design project supervision, and to actively contribute to departmental initiatives including the development of a new interdisciplinary program in Environmental Science.

 

Required qualifications include a PhD in geological or related sciences, clear potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a strong record or emerging strength in research and publications. Candidates nearing completion of their PhD degree requirements at the time of application will also be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who are registered as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist in Canada or who would be eligible for registration.
