The Institute of Chemistry at the Faculty of Natural Sciences is seeking to appoint a


Tenure-track professorship pursuant to § 99 Para. 5 of the University Act (UG) "Physical Chemistry"
(Filling to occur initially with a limited term of 6 years as Assistant Professor (f/m) with Qualification Agreement. Career goal is a transition to an open-ended employment relationship as Associate Professor (f/m); 40 hours per week; to be occupied at May 1st 2019)

The future job holder will represent the broad area of the teaching and learning of Physical Chemistry. The applicant's research core area should be in the field of experimental Physical Chemistry, with special emphasis on the investigation of atomic and molecular processes at interfaces with state-of-the-art methods in microscopy and/or spectroscopy and/or scattering/dispersion/diffusion. Willingness to collaborate with members of the institute and of NAWI Graz is expected.

Professional qualifications

 Doctoral degree or PhD in chemistry, physics, materials science or similar subjects plus several years of experience as a post-doc researcher or in a comparable deployment
 Excellent research and publication records (relative to academic age)
 Experience with proposal writing and successful raising of third-party funds
 Qualification in teaching and didactic eligibility
 Ability to conduct independent research, especially to develop and lead an independent research group
 Excellent command of English and experience with scientific publishing in English
 Gender mainstreaming competence
 International experience after completion of the Master's degree is desirable

 Taking pleasure in working with people in an interdisciplinary, internationally orientated environment

In addition to the application documents, we ask to submit a teaching concept (one page). As part of the evaluation, candidates invited for interviews will take part in a Teaching Skills Assessment. In accordance with the general application guidelines for tenure-track professorships we further expect applicants to submit a research concept, which should outline the content and methodological planning as well as the instrumental feasibility.

Classification

Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1 bzw. A2 with qualificational agreement

Minimum salary

The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 51955.40 gross per year or EUR 61441.80 gross per year with qualificational agreement.
