POSTDOC IN UV-INDUCED FORMATION OF N2O IN NATURE
At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience a position as Postdoc in UV-induced Formation of N2O in Nature is open for appointment in the period 1 February 2019 - 31 January 2021 or soon hereafter. The Department consists of five sections of which three are situated in Aalborg with research and teaching in Biology and Environmental Science, Biotechnology and Applied Chemistry, one in Esbjerg on Chemical Engineering and one in Copenhagen on Sustainable Biotechnology. The position is located within the section of Biology and Environmental Science with working place in Aalborg. The Section of Biology and Environmental Science at Aalborg University is currently developing progressively. Several academic staff members have recently joined the section, a large increase in the number of biology students is observed, and our section has moved to brand new office and laboratory facilities in 2015.
JOB DESCRIPTION The position requires a candidate with experience and competence in biology, chemistry or physics. Preference is given to candidates with previous experience in one or more of the following topics: reactive nitrogen, greenhouse gas chemistry, plant physiology, advanced isotope analysis or photochemistry. Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.
The candidate will participate in an external financed (Independent Research Fund Denmark, DFF) project, UVWarm-FNU, on fundamental mechanisms and controls for UV-induced formation of N2O in relation to surface characteristics, UV spectra and environment. The work will mainly be carried out as laboratory investigations at AAU and during visits to Aarhus University (AU), University of East Anglia (UEA), Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and University of Copenhagen (KU). The position will offer an excellent possibility for working, and obtain broad experience, from an interdisciplinary research environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with publication potential. The position is a research position but the candidate should expect to become involved in some project-based teaching in biology or environmental science study programmes at the University. All educational programs at Aalborg University are based on Problem Based Learning. Project work makes up half the teaching load at all semesters. For more information see www.bio.aau.dk.

Qualification requirements: Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
