Professor (Division of Neutron Material Science)

Kyoto University Institute for Integrated Radiation and Nuclear Science (KURNS) invites applications for a
Professor position, as described below.

KURNS was established for the joint use program among Japanese universities to promote the
research and education in the fields of nuclear reactors and related subjects. The Kyoto University research
Reactor (KUR) and related research facilities have been used in a wide variety of scientific areas.

Professor (1 person)

II. Research division:
Division of Neutron Material Science

III. Job description:
The successful candidate is expected to play important roles in research and education on advanced
materials science using the KUR and/or related research facilities in KURNS. In addition, he/she is
expected to open a new scientific area and should propose a beneficial project at KURNS for the joint use
program among Japanese universities.

IV. Qualification:
The successful candidate should hold a PhD.

1. Curriculum Vitae (a photograph must be attached.)
2. Brief summary of research and a list of academic publications (divided clearly into refereed
journal papers and others); journal Impact Factors and the number of citations of major 10
publications should be specified.
3. Six reprints (photocopies) of major 10 publications.
4. Recommendation letters by references (It is possible to offer oneself.)
5. Statement of research plans and interests, describing research experiences on related areas and
proposed project at KURNS for the joint use program among Japanese universities.
6. Description on other activities (on research funds, academic society and social activities),
together with the names of some references (including addresses, phone numbers and e-mail
7. Electric data of the application documents above (except six reprints) should also be submitted
in the form of CD-ROM or USB memory.

Full time (tenured)

IX. Starting date:

X. Business hours:
Discretionary labor system, based on 7 hours, 45 minutes (8:30–17:15 work schedule with a onehour
break) per day, 38 hours 45 minutes per week.

Days off: Saturdays, Sundays, National holidays, Year-end and New Year holidays, Foundation
Day, and summer vacation.

XI. Salary and allowance:
To be determined in accordance with Kyoto University regulations.
