Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Department of Physics, Clarendon Laboratory, Parks Road, Oxford

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Physics, University of Oxford working on a grant funded by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), USA.

The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 2 years.

The main body of research of this project will be on the effects of Redox and Ionic Dopants on the structure of electronic behaviour or Haloplumbate Perovskites. The researcher undertaking this role will focus on solution processed perovskite thin films, and the role of doping on these materials. They will develop solution chemistry, and assess crystalline and optoelectronic properties of the films. They will also integrate these films into complete devices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for: developing perovskite precursor solutions and processing of polycrystalline thin films; characterisation of the materials using a range of tools such as XRD, SEM, Photoluminescence spectroscopy, photoconductivity; fabrication and characterisation of perovskite solar cells, and assessment of their long term stability.

The successful candidate will possess or be close to completion of a PhD in physics, materials science, chemistry or engineering and have excellent problem solving skills. Specific expertise in metal halide perovskite would be an advantage, with specific understanding of solution chemistry. In addition, excellent verbal and written skills in English, a good track record of high quality publications.

Previous experience in the field of perovskite solar cells will be an advantage.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate their capability of working well within a research team and collaborating openly and effectively with their colleagues.

The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.
