Research Associate in Plasma Polymerisation and Jet Technologies
This position arises from the combining of two short, focused projects addressing the development of plasma polymerisation and plasma jet technologies for applications in dentistry and healthcare.
The objective of project 1 is to build a plasma reactor and provide coatings by plasma polymerisation for adhesion testing in the context of improving the adhesion of dental materials to the gum.
The objective of project 2 is to optimise the release (from microparticles) of a potent biocidal agent by a plasma jet.
Both projects are industry–led and the position is ideal for someone who already has expertise in plasma technology and wants experience of applying their expertise on industrial projects.
You should have, or expect to have, a PhD in biochemistry or chemically-related sciences, coupled with experience of microbiology, cell culture methods and of the use of plasma technology, either for thin film coating or as plasma jets, to decontaminate microbes.
Informal e-mail enquiries prior to making an application are welcome, in which case contact Prof Rob Short d.short1@lancaster.ac.uk or David Cheneler d.cheneler@lancaster.ac.uk
