About the Job

The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment to begin August 2019. We welcome applicants from all areas of theoretical and observational astrophysics, with a particular emphasis on multi-messenger astrophysics: observations and modeling of gravitational wave signals across the entire spectrum, electromagnetic follow-up, or methods for combining information from multiple messengers.


This position includes membership in the Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics (MIfA). MIfA faculty have a broad range of research interests that include solar and planetary physics, stellar astrophysics, extragalactic astronomy, transient astronomy, gravitational wave detection, gamma-ray astroparticle physics, dark matter particle searches, and cosmology. Facilities available to our faculty include a share of the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT), guaranteed time on Steward Observatory facilities, and access to the Minnesota Supercomputer Institute.
