About the Job

The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the area of Experimental Particle Physics at the energy or intensity frontier. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in physics, astrophysics, or other related fields and should have demonstrated the potential to conduct a vigorous and significant research program as evidenced by their publication record and supporting letters from recognized leaders in the field. The ability to teach physics effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels is required. The School of Physics and Astronomy is committed to a diverse scholarly environment.


The appointment is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level, although a more senior appointment will be considered for a candidate with exceptional qualifications and a record of leadership in the field.


The University of Minnesota has a strong and well-supported experimental particle physics program including leading efforts on CMS, NOVA, DUNE, CDMS, Mu2e, and LDMX. For this position, we seek candidates who would strengthen or complement our efforts either in the CMS experiment at the LHC or in neutrino physics with the NOVA and DUNE experiments.


The expected starting date for this position is August 26, 2019, although an earlier or later start can be arranged.
