This is a full-time, 100% appointment. The position will be in the Weak Interaction group in the Physics Department of U.C. Berkeley. The group focuses on searches for neutrinoless double-beta decay and other rare processes with the CUORE and CUPID experiments at Gran Sasso, Italy. The job duties and responsibilities of this position include research and development of the novel instrumentation for, and operation, monitoring, and data analysis of nuclear physics experiments. In particular, lead the development of the state-of-the-art bolometric detectors for the CUPID experiment, take responsibility for design, construction, and commissioning of a significant subsystem in the CUPID experiment, participate in organization and operations of the local bolometric R&D facility, maintain the remote data monitoring tools for the CUORE experiment, develop new simulation and analysis tools for the CUORE and CUPID experiments. Prepare high-profile publications, prepare annual reports to the Department of Energy, and assist in developing funding proposals.
