The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in space physics or related fields. The person hired will participate in the operation of the RIMFAX ground penetrating radar experiment on NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover Mission, and conduct research on Mars and Mars analog environments on Earth. The incumbent shall be involved in science planning, data uplink and downlink, data analysis and interpretation of the RIMFAX data. They will also work with the Perseverance rover team to better define the geological history and geological context of the rover’s field area. They will also conduct independent Mars-related research utilizing remote sensing and in-situ Mars observations, laboratory data, or data from Mars analog sites on Earth. Work is to be carried out in collaboration with Prof. David Paige and his research group.
