The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in space physics or related fields. The successful candidate will conduct observational and modeling research of the radiation environment in the Earth's magnetosphere. the research will include analysis of data from missions, including Van Allen Probes, GOES, THEMIS, POES and other mission oriented on measurements of the radiation environment. in addition, comprehensive modeling in quasi-linear theory using Versatile Electron Radiation Belts Code (VERB) will be performed and the results of the modeling will be compared with observations. Candidates are expected to demonstrate experience in spacecraft data analysis and numerical modeling. Knowledge of listed mission, VERB code, and MATLAB are required. Knowledge of Python and IDL is desired. Work is to be conducted in collaboration with the Space Environment Modeling Group (https://rbm.epss.ucla.edu/) under supervision of Dr. Alexander Drozdov.
