| Department: Earth & Planetary Sciences (EPS) DescriptionThe Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences (EPS) and the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC) at Yale University invite applications for a tenure-track appointment at any rank (assistant, associate, or full professor) in the areas of marine and geological carbon dioxide removal and greenhouse gas mitigation. A start date of July 2026 or later is expected for this position. We encourage applicants from disciplines including (but not limited to) physical, chemical, and biological oceanography, as well as geochemistry, petrology, and sedimentology. The YCNCC fosters research on carbon capture and greenhouse gas reduction using ecological, geological, and oceanographic approaches. Areas of interest include: 
 YCNCC faculty work across multiple Yale units, including the Yale School of the Environment, and departments in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering & Applied Science, specifically the Departments of Earth & Planetary Sciences, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Chemistry, and Chemical & Environmental Engineering. The academic appointment will be in Earth & Planetary Sciences, but the new faculty member will play a key role in the ongoing development and success of the YCNCC. The successful candidate will expand existing collaborations between YCNCC and EPS, particularly in enhanced weathering and ocean alkalinity enhancement. We seek candidates who will develop outstanding research programs, demonstrate exceptional scholarly impact and teaching excellence, and strengthen the existing research and academic community within the Department, the Center, and the University.
