Our newly established School of Human Sciences within the College of Life and Natural Sciences is looking to appoint an Associate Professor specialising in Physical Activity and Health. The Associate Professor will sit within the Discipline of Sport, Outdoor and Exercise Science and be part of the Human Sciences Research Centre both housed within the School of Human Sciences. You will join a growing team of academics within the School and work closely with peers to lead and develop the research within the Centre. We are particularly interested in candidates with an expertise in physical activity and exercise in relation to metabolic diseases and conditions, and associated health outcomes. You will be involved in all aspects of research, supporting staff in their research development, mentoring early career researchers, enhancing our postgraduate community and student experience, and leading on securing grant capture. You will work collaboratively across disciplines within the School and Research Centre and ensure the research informed nature of our curriculum. You will work closely with peers and the School Leadership Team to deliver on all research related targets and drive forward the profile and eminence of Human Sciences research at the University of Derby.  

You must have a proven track record of research in Physical Activity and Health with evidence of income and collaborative working. You must have a PhD in an area relevant to Physical activity and health and have a recognised research profile in your area of expertise to fulfil the Associate Professor appointment.  We focus on creating opportunities for staff and students to gain excellent research training, development and practice through specialist facilities and a growing community that fosters intellectual collaboration and interdisciplinary working to address the grand challenges and have applied impact within the world we live.
