The Institute of Applied Physics at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a

Doctoral Research Associate
Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in
(salary level TV-L E 13)

at the earliest possible date. We are offering a fixed term part-time position (50%) for 3 years. Fulltime employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

The scope of duties includes theoretical and experimental research on tailoring laser beams for fast scanning applications and multi-droplet trapping for nano-chemistry. This position is tied to working towards a doctorate. Our expectations:

  • a master's degree from a university or applied university in physics, photonic engineering, electrical engineering, physical chemistry or a comparable degree programme
  • a demonstrated understanding of at least one of the following topics: set-up and characterization of diode-pumped solid-state lasers, coupling of longitudinal and/or transverse modes, numerical modelling of light propagation in open multimodal resonators, optical tweezing, or multifocal optical systems.
  • the ability to independently carry out scientific work, solve problems and present results
