More information about Gothenburg Physics Centre can be found at www.chalmers.se/en/centres/gpc The research will be carried out as a collaboration between the research group at the University of Gothenburg lead by Mattias Goksör and Caroline Adiels, and Victor Torres Company at the Calmers University of Technology. The groups focus on optical manipulation, microfluidic and imaging for applications in biological physics, and laser frequency combs, integrated optics and optical communications respectively. Job assignmentsWe seek applicants for one PhD positions at the Physics Department of the University of Gothenburg. The successful candidate will be trained in experimental and computational optics, statistical physics and machine learning. Previous experience with experimental and computational methods in these fields will be considered a plus. The goal of the research project is to use two phase-coherent frequency combs in order to implement a new linear microscopy technique. The technique shall offer diffraction-limited spatial resolution and sub-100 ns temporal resolution, initially using well-established electro-optic combs operating in the 1.5-µm band. The microscopy technology will be implemented for single-cell applications by combining the microscope with microfluidics. We are looking for a strongly motivated person, who is able to work independently but who also is well equipped for collaboration in this multidisciplinary project. Previous experience of the abovementioned techniques will be considered a plus.
