The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Observational and Theoretical Studies of Satellite Galaxies. This position in Astrophysics has a start date of September 1st 2022.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Physics or a related field and be in a rank no higher than a postdoctoral position by the start of employment. Applicants must have an outstanding record of research and publication. Candidates whose interests contact with, yet broaden, those of the existing faculty in dwarf galaxies, dark matter, the galaxy-halo connection, cosmology, the Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space & Time (LSST), studies with the Advanced ACTPol and Simons Observatory, and the effective use of Rutgers 10% share in the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) are particularly encouraged.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program that will attract external funding, and to teach physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
