Are you a catchment hydrologist with a recently completed PhD and keen to contribute to teaching and research in linking the hydrological cycle to the biogeochemistry. Are you keen on experimental work or do you prefer modelling? We have an exiting Tenure Track position available. FTE: 0,8 - 1 Job descriptionThe Department of Earth Sciences studies all aspects of the dynamics of Earth with an integrated approach to quantify the interplay and feedback mechanisms between the interior, surface and atmosphere of the Earth. The Hydrology and Biogeochemical cycles group is part of the Earth and Climate component of the Department. We view the hydrological cycle as an essential part of the System Earth. We perform research on biogeochemical cycles of carbon and investigate the role of water in these. We have a strong focus on high latitude processes such as permafrost and wetlands.
Your duties The tenure track candidate will be encouraged to develop a largely externally funded research program in her/his research field. We encourage candidates to apply that use their research to tackle societal problems in the field of sustainability and natural hazards. The appointee is expected to teach, conduct research, and fulfill limited administrative duties in support of the strong teaching and research base. Education duties include participation in BSc and MSc programs (Earth Sciences, Hydrology). More specifically you will teach courses in elementary hydrology, catchment hydrology as well as participation in fieldwork courses. The candidate is also expected to supervise BSc and MSc student projects. The candidate should show academic leadership, maintain a high publication output, supervise postgraduate students, and raise competitive research funding. The successful candidate is expected to build up a successful group around his/her field of expertise. RequirementsWe offer a challenging position for a scientist with a completed PhD and a strong background in studying the interaction of hydrological processes with the global biogeochemical cycles using experimental data. We will also consider candidates with strong modelling background. The research should ideally be integrated with the existing research groups focusing on permafrost studies, and those studying interactions between the hydrological and carbon cycles such as wetlands. What are we offering?A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €3,637 (scale 11)
