Expression of Interest for sessional teaching and marking in the fields of Organic, Inorganic, Analytical, Physical and Environmental Chemistry in the Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science discipline of the STEM College – School of Science

  • Based in Melbourne – City Campus and Bundoora, depending on the course
  • Casual hours commencing in Semester 1 2024
  • Contribute to a culture of quality learning and teaching in the Discipline of Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science

About the Role and Your Responsibilities

The School of Science is recognised for its experiential learning practices, customised programs, high-tech facilities, and excellence in research. Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science at RMIT actively engages with industry to ensure our programs meet the needs of this rapidly expanding field and our graduates are in high demand. 

 

To help to support our delivery of programs we require passionate and experienced staff that will prepare and deliver teaching and / or marking in the fields of Organic, Inorganic, Analytical and Physical Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. We welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to register their interest to teach and/or mark on a casual basis within the Discipline. 

 

The volume, nature and availability of sessional teaching will vary based on the needs of the Discipline including course offerings, timetabling and student demand.

 

Essential criteria

  • Expertise in either applied chemistry or environmental science. 
  • Previous experience in hands-on laboratory demonstration and/or environmental science wet experiments.
  • Qualification of Masters or PhD. Note: Bachelor (Honours) candidates can still apply provided they meet the minimum industry experience but must undergo Qualifications Equivalency assessment at RMIT to be eligible for this position. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of requisite content for course/s taught within Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science programs.
  • Evidence of teaching ability in educational or workplace settings, and the capacity to engage students in an enthusiastic, concise, engaging, and informative manner.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.
