The Centre for Environmental Policy is soliciting applications for a faculty position at the Lecturer level (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in Energy and Environmental Technology and Policy.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, energy system modelling and optimisation, expertise in technology for the decarbonisation of energy and industrial systems, natural resource constraints and ecosystem services, macroeconomic considerations of decarbonisation, net zero transitions within the SDGs agenda

The successful candidate will be expected to interact with groups inside and outside the Centre for Environmental Policy across Imperial College.

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach courses at postgraduate levels including Master’s and higher research degree students through lectures, seminars, course work, tutorials and personal supervision.

The successful candidate will also be required to:

  • Plan and review their own approach to teaching
  • Contribute to the development of teaching, teaching methods and assessments in the department to enhance the quality of teaching
  • Develop approaches to teaching which are innovative and reflect best practice developing elsewhere
  • Develop course proposals and contribute to curriculum development
  • Supervise research projects at Master and PhD levels

Essential requirements

To be successful, you will have:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in one of the following subject areas: Climate Physics, Data Science in Climate Energy, Low-Carbon Technologies, Climate Finance, or Economics and Public Policy, or related field or equivalent
  • A developing national reputation and expertise in the field of policy analysis, regulation, economic, social or market analysis, expertise in energy technology or environmental technology
  • Experience of preparing grant applications for submission 
  • A portfolio of research publications, confirming national standing (commensurate with career stage)
  • Good leadership skills 
  • A collaborative nature and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Experience of training Undergraduate and Postgraduate students 
  • Experience of supervision of higher degrees (PhD)
