The successful applicant will have an outstanding emerging, or existing, research profile that sits within the Smart Sustainable Futures research theme. You will be expected to generate research income and high quality research outputs. You will be required to engage in student recruitment activities to attract home, EU, and international students. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate excellence in and a commitment to designing and delivering the highest quality teaching. Demonstrable expertise in GIS and quantitative methods applicable to teaching and research is essential.

 

The Lecturer in Geography and Environment will be expected to contribute to research, teaching and administrative activities. With a PhD and postdoctoral experience in human geography or a cognate discipline, the successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of active and successful research outcomes through publications aligned with the Smart Sustainable Futures research theme. Applicants will have a proven or emerging track record of attracting external research funding and managing research projects (commensurate with the level of appointment) which may demonstrate an aptitude for engaging in and/or leading interdisciplinary research. Demonstrable engagement with challenge-orientated research will be advantageous. The successful candidate will have opportunities to expand Geography and Environment's existing successful interdisciplinary collaborations across the School of Geosciences and elsewhere within the University.

 

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 (£40,792 to £48,676 per annum) salary scale and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

 

Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 3 year probation period.
