Job Description


Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for part-time instructors to teach in-person sections of various Chemistry Courses including lecture and lab components. We seek faculty who are enthusiastic about teaching.


Applications will be considered on an as needed basis determined by course availability. Department chairs will contact applicants when a position in their area becomes available.


Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour for lecture and $1,727 per credit hour for lab. Courses range from 1­-4 credits.

Founded in 2002, NSC is a four-year public college located on a developing 512-acre campus in the foothills of Henderson, Nevada (adjacent to Las Vegas). Core Responsibilities:


Design course materials (syllabus, lectures, assignments, exams, etc.) Teach an in-person section.

Utilize training sessions/materials to master the use of Canvas, NSC’s learning management system.

Maintain regular communication with students, adjunct coordinator, and department chair.

Teaching, mentoring, and advising students.

There is potential for collaboration with other faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:


Master’s degree in the following fields or related field: Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science.

Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate students.

Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.
