Duties/project description: IceCube is a neutrino telescope in operation at the geographic South Pole. The telescope consists of about 5000 optical modules observing one cubic kilometre of the very clear ice in the Antarctic glacier. IceCube detects neutrinos with energies from MeV up to a few PeV from the most extreme environments in the Universe. More information can be found at The IceCube collaboration is planning to increase the size of the current array in order to enhance the sensitivity of the detector. The successful candidate will work on the simulation and hardware development for the next generation optical sensors to be used in this extension.
