The Fleischer Lab from the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Tübingen, invites applications for the position of

PhD student / doctoral candidate (m/w/d, E 13 TV-L, 65%)

for the duration of three years, starting in October 2025. The remuneration is based on the German TV-L statutory salary scale.

The Fleischer research group focuses on the development of new catalytic transformations for organic synthesis. General goals of our investigations are innovation, efficiency and sustainability. We are looking for a PhD student to work within the framework of the EU doctoral network CATALOOP ( https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/cataloop/index.html ). The CATALOOP network brings together several groups from all over Europe in the fields of homogeneous catalysis, computational and theoretical chemistry and aims at broad training in synthetic chemistry as well as data-driven optimization of stereoselective catalysts. The project in our group focuses on the development of new chiral Ni-based catalysts for asymmetric coupling reactions.

Interested applicants should have a strong background in organic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis, and experience with organometallic chemistry and experimental methods under inert conditions. They should be interested in data-based approach towards catalyst development. They must hold, or are soon to complete, an outstanding Master (or equivalent) degree in chemistry. Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills in English and very good knowledge of organic chemistry are expected. The ability to work safely, independently and in a team environment is essential.
