Job description The research in the Division of Glycoscience is focused in various areas of Glycobiology, comprising fundamental research on plants and microorganisms, as well as biotechnological developments towards carbohydrate-based products. The research requires multidisciplinary approaches that are fully integrated in the Division in the form of interconnected activities in the following areas: Bioenergy, Biomaterials, Biorefinery, Food Sustainability and Disease Control. The objective of the postdoc position: Plan and execute research experiments in the Eurostar CarboNor project, with a focus on the conversion of carbohydrate polymers from nordic algal biomass into high-value biotech products. The overarching aim is to establish a novel commercial brand of bioactives and structural carbohydrates from abundant seaweeds for the development of high-value products for the biomedical and cosmetics sectors. Communicate and disseminate the research results with academic collaborators and industrial partners, as well as the public. A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline (With some exceptions for special reasons such as periods of sick or parental leave, kindly indicate if such reason exists in your resume).
The applicant should hold a PhD in a field of polymer technology, materials science and engineering, physical chemistry or the equivalent.
