POSTDOC POSITION in Computational Condensed Matter Physics

Workplace: Department of Condensed Matter Physics, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University, Czech Republic
Type of Contract: Temporary position with 1-year contract (with possible extension), non-academic

The Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the Faculty of Science MU announces an open postdoc position in the group of Jan Kuneš.


Job Description

Key Duties:

A successful candidate is expected to work on one of the following topics:

  • The interplay between magnetic phase diagrams and crystal structures in perovskite oxides

  • Linear magneto-optical effects in altermagnets and non-collinear magnetic structures

  • Circular dichroism in RIXS


Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:

  • Background either in material-specific calculations of strongly correlated materials including electron-lattice coupling, or many-body methods for lattice models, e.g., dynamical mean-field theory or variational Monte Carlo

  • Good communication skills (oral and written) in English
