Postdoctoral Positions in Theoretical Biocomplexity and Active Matter

The Biocomplexity group and the Active Intelligent Matter (AIM) group at the Niels Bohr Institute invite applications for postdoctoral fellowships in an interdisciplinary research at the interface between physics, biology, and mechanics.

Biocomplex signaling and active matter comprises a wide range of living systems including cells, bacteria, and subcellular filaments, as well as artificial and synthetic materials that are continuously driven far from equilibrium by their constituent elements. Fundamental biological processes such as cell division, cell death, and the emergence of coordinated motion of cells are governed by the activation of biochemical signals by mechanical stresses and by the physics of active matter.

This research program will use theoretical and computational modeling, along with in-house experiments to study fundamental problems in cell dynamics, mechanobiology and active matter with potential applications in the life sciences. A number of projects include close collaborations with theorists and experimental biophysicists in US, UK, Japan, and Europe.

The positions can be funded for two years and candidates with interest in both theoretical and computational physics are welcome.
