About the Role

The School is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in cosmology to work with Dr Alkistis Pourtsidou on perturbation theory techniques and code development for large scale structure surveys like ESA’s Euclid satellite mission. The position is funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship held by Dr Alkistis Pourtsidou.

About You

Applicants should have a strong research track record within cosmology or related fields, ideally in areas that involve higher order perturbation theory techniques. Applicants with a strong theory background on perturbation theory combined with numerical proficiency in Python and C/C++ are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a PhD in Cosmology or equivalent, and already have research skills in some or all areas specified above. As well as performing research, the successful candidate will be expected to take part in the activities of the wider cosmology group, including participating in discussion groups and seminars, and mentoring or working with PhD students.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 1 year, with an expected start date of October 2020. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £33,324 – £40,194 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
