Postdoctoral Research Associate in Solid-state Molecular Organometallic Chemistry

Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Solid-State Molecular Organometallic chemistry, to work under the supervision of Professor Andrew Weller on a research project funded by the EPSRC for a period of up to 2 years. The project will be focus on the development of novel solid–state molecular single–crystal, organometallic techniques for the synthesis, characterisation and onward reactivity (including C–H activation processes and catalysis) of transition metal alkane, and related, complexes. The project will have close links with the group of Professor Stuart Macgregor (Heriot–Watt University) who will provide computational analysis of systems being studied.

Find out more about the Weller research group at: http://research.chem.ox.ac.uk/andrew-weller.aspx

The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Chemistry in Organometallic or Coordination Chemistry (or be close to completion). The successful applicant will have expertise in synthetic organometallic chemistry, multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and the collection and refinement of single–crystal X-ray data. Experience of catalysis is highly desirable.

Duties include collecting data, analysing and reviewing scientific data, and managing own academic research and administrative activities, involving small scale project management, to co-ordinate, and communicate, multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, 12 Mansfield Road, OX1 3TA and is available from 1 May, or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
