The postdoctoral position is funded as part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at the University of Queensland, which has received funding since July 2005 under the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centres of Excellence program. The ARC Centre is a partnership of James Cook University (JCU), the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), The Australian National University (ANU), the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA), The University of Queensland (UQ) and The University of Western Australia (UWA). The Centre Director is Professor Terry Hughes (JCU), while Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg (UQ) and Professor Malcolm McCulloch (UWA) are the Deputy Directors.


The role

ARC Post-doctoral Research Fellow will be responsible for undertaking research within the Hoegh-Guldberg/Dove laboratory (as part of the Centre for Excellence) working alongside a global coral conservation science partner, WWF.  The position is for two years with a possibility of extension for a further two years.


The person

Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career, a deep knowledge of tropical marine research along with experience in working with NGO’s and philanthropic initiatives. Also a deep knowledge of the functional relationships between coral reefs, diversity and people – as well as the impacts of the local and global environmental change.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term two year appointment at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $67,542 - $90,9820 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $79,025 - $106,449 p.a.).
