Role & Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Research Assistant is funded by the ARC Discovery Project: “Probing nanoscale disorder in 3D with x-ray free-electron lasers”. The project aims to reveal the 3D nanostructure of disordered matter with x-rays for the first time. You will work with a large local and international collaborative team to conduct these experiments and to analyse large datasets.


The role will provide opportunities for travel, research networking, presentations at international conferences, mentoring postgraduate students and a pathway to independent research.


Skills & Experience

You will have:

  • Ability to conduct diffraction experiments (e.g. crystallography, imaging, powder diffraction, SAXS and/or electron diffraction) with skills to analyse diffraction/imaging data
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g. Python) and an interest in developing analysis software for solving experimental and computational problems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that enhance your ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Hold a PhD in Science/Engineering or other relevant discipline
