Title: Postdoctoral Scholar, Physical Sciences Jaffe Research Team, UW Bothell

Position Details

Position Description

The Jaffe research team at the University of Washington is looking to add a Postdoctoral Scholar.   This position is focused on understanding gas and aerosol chemistry from global and regional sources.  The position will focus on collecting, interpreting and/or modeling observations from the Mt. Bachelor Observatory (MBO), an NSF funded observatory, which we have operated since 2004.    The Mt. Bachelor Observatory operates year round to measure a suite of key gases and aerosol components (e.g. O3, CO, CO2, σscat, σabs, etc).  During spring and summer intensives, additional measurements (NOx, NOy, VOCs, aerosol chemistry and physics) are added to focus on specific research questions.

The primary responsibilities for these positions include:

  1. Lead or assist with making high quality observations of atmospheric constituents;
  2. Interpretation of the data with other observations, such as meteorology, regional air quality, satellite data and air quality models;
  3. Publish the results in top scientific journals.

The initial appointment will be for one year with possible extensions.  Compensation for the position is competitive and post docs at the University of Washington are considered faculty and receive a full benefits package.   For more information about the Jaffe research group, the Mt. Bachelor Observatory, recent news and our more than 150 scientific publications, please see our website at:
