Project Overview / Duties

  • PhD in condensed matter theory and statistical physics, joining the research group of Johannes Hofmann

  • Focus on hydrodynamic transport in electron and electron-phonon systems

  • Apply kinetic theory, both numerically and analytically, to study charge and heat transport

  • Doctoral studies: 4 years full-time leading to a PhD

  • Up to 20% departmental duties (teaching, research, administration) allowed


Eligibility Requirements

General Eligibility:

  • Completed second-cycle (Master’s) degree, or equivalent knowledge (≥240 credits with ≥60 at second-cycle level)

  • Command of spoken and written English (TOEFL iBT ≥79 or equivalent)

Specific Eligibility:

  • Master’s in natural sciences or equivalent (physics, theoretical physics, condensed matter, statistical physics, atomic physics)

  • Experience with analytical and numerical calculations is preferred

  • Interest or experience in many-body physics or quantum theory is a plus


Employment Terms

  • Fixed-term, 4-year full-time employment

  • Department applies local agreement on salaries for doctoral students

  • Physical presence in Gothenburg required

  • International applicants need a valid residence permit for studies in Sweden
