The Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for a permanent position under private law for a Professor of Theoretical Physics to begin immediately. The appointment is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities Act. We are looking for a scientist with an outstanding record in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics, in particular, computational optoelectronics, photonics and quantum information science. The focus should be on optical, quantum optical, and electronic properties of nanostructures, e.g. semiconductor quantum dots. These studies should include many-particle quantum effects, such as electron-electron and electron-photon interactions. Experience in the development of multiscale approaches that combine theories of different complexity is desirable. Examples of such theories are density matrix theory for the description of light-matter and dissipative electron-phonon interaction and Maxwell-theory for the propagation of electromagnetic fields. With these tools, properties and applications of low-dimensional structures shall be addressed, together with local and international collaboration partners in experimental and theoretical science. Applicants for the position must have a venia docendi (habilitation degree) or a comparable post-doctorate qualification in the academic field. Please see the job opening for a detailed job description online at http://www.jku.at/professuren. A gross salary above the minimum amount (currently € 71.822,80) as stated in the collective agreement will be voluntarily offered subject to negotiation. The Johannes Kepler University wishes to increase the proportion of academic female faculty and, for this reason, especially welcomes applications by qualified women. If applicants are equally qualified, a woman will be given preference for this position. The university welcomes applications from qualified applicants who have physical disabilities. These applications will be given special consideration. Prospective applicants interested in the position are requested to electronically send a complete application in adherence to the stated criteria in the job profile, together with the requested documentation (including an application form and current CV) to the Rector of the Johannes Kepler University Linz under application@jku.at by September 25, 2019. If documents cannot be sent electronically, they are to be sent in quintuplet copy and should arrive at the Rector’s office no later than one week after the end of the application deadline.
