The Department of Physics & Astronomy at Vanderbilt University seeks an outstanding individual for a non-tenure track faculty position in astrophysics.  A Ph.D. in physics is required. The successful candidate is expected to lead an inaugural research direction in numerical relativity and astrophysics for the LIGO collaboration.  The main focus of the successful applicant’s research will focus on intermediate mass black holes, which require an accuracy and set of initial parameters that have not been explored yet.  The successful applicant will also be expected to mentor and advise astrophysics/astronomy graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications

Successful applicant's prior experience in numerical general relativistic simulations on supercomputers, data-analysis in LIGO and next-generation of gravitational-wave experiments, and intermediate-mass black holes a priority.
