The position in accordance with Section28 subsection3 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG)commences on 16 September 2019.

This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section2 of the academic fixed-term labor con-tract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The term is fixed for a period of2years.The position calls for 39 hours per week.

They will contribute to the design, execution, and analysis of experiments to explore the limits of structure determination. As needed, they may design and test methods to invert low-signal diffraction and interference patterns obtained from time-varying objects or so-lutions of identical particles and/or develop new instrumentation and methods to acquire such signals.

A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate. A suitable background in imaging science or physics is required. Experience with experiments at X-ray free-electron lasers or synchrotron radiation facilities is preferred, ideally in the field of coherent diffractive imaging or microscopy.
