RESEARCH ASSOCIATE FOR THE PROJECT “Cluster of Excellence 'Advanced Imaging of Matter' -X-ray pulse shaping

The positionin accordance with Section28 subsection3of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) commences on 1 June 2019.


This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section2of the academic fixed-term labor con-tract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The term is fixed for a period of3 years.The position calls for 75% of standard work hours per week


.Responsibilities:


Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pur-sue independent research and further academic qualifications.


Specific Duties:


Development and testing of novel optics for focusing and shaping x-raysAs partof collaboration perform experiments to compress x-ray FEL pulses to highest intensi-ties ever generatedInvestigatation of the effects of intense x-ray fields generated by focusing XFEL pulses onto ma-terials


Requirements:

A university degree in a relevant field. The candidate should have a strong background in optics, imaging, x-ray physics or interferometric methods. Expertise in analytical, quantitative, instrumentation or computational methods is a plus.
